Mr. Denman is Of Counsel with Symons Markwith LLP’s Washington, DC area office. Mr. Denman has a proven track record representing small, emerging businesses as well as some of the world’s largest publicly traded software and technology companies. Mr. Denman’s experience includes a wide variety of industries, including Healthcare IT, electronic communication equipment, Internet commerce, and on-line learning, among others.
Mr. Denman’s services include legal advice and support with respect to:
- In-bound and out-bound software licensing negotiation and advice;
- Subscription, SaaS (Software as a Service) and cloud-based agreements;
- Technology transfers;
- Technology and IP transactions, including reseller, distribution, services, consulting and development agreements;
- Product development, commercialization and go-to-market approach;
- Trademark advice, prosecution and protection.
Prior to joining Symons Markwith LLP, Mr. Denman spent seven years as Senior Commercial Counsel with GE Healthcare’s Information Technology (HCIT) division, where as the lead lawyer for HCIT’s legal commercial team he negotiated major, strategic and complex agreements with HCIT’s key customers, including software license agreements, service agreements, distribution agreements and strategic enterprise-wide relationships.
Prior to GE, Mr. Denman was a founding partner of Boucher & Denman, where his practice focused on software and intellectual property advice and contract negotiations. As a founding member of the firm, he handled complex commercial transactions, focusing on healthcare technology transactions, software and technology licenses, and technology product development agreements. Mr. Denman also provided trademark advice, protection and prosecution.
Mr. Denman also served as a member of the Strategic Advisory Board of the Chesapeake Regional Tech Council where he helped drive technology growth in the Baltimore/Washington Corridor, and served as a reviewer with the University of Maryland’s Maryland Industrial Partner Program, advising on applications for grants for technology related products.
Mr. Denman was also an attorney with Arnold & Porter in Washington, DC and Los Angeles, CA and with Gardner, Carton & Douglas in Washington, DC. With those firms, Mr. Denman handled a wide range of issues for technology and publicly held corporations, including handling complex commercial technology transactions, advising with respect to trademark and domain name disputes, and providing other intellectual property advice.
